The Pot Shop in the Heart of Regina

Where Downtown Regina and the Cathedral Village meet, a small weed shop with a big passion opened its doors on October 1st 2023, and it's high time we introduced ourselves.

We’re Canna Green, a group of stoners and industry pro’s who came together to share our years of expertise with our city, dismantle stigma, and bring the people of Regina some of the best weed the legal industry has to offer. We’re a licensed cannabis shop located at the intersection of Albert Street and 13th Ave in the Royal Square Plaza - 2120 Albert Street to be specific. We moved into the old Spirling Silvers Liquor Store (now the YQR Distillery) , pulled the bars off the windows and brightened the place right up! Though, if it wasn’t for repurposing the old offsale coolers to shelve our weed, you would never be able to tell it's the same location.  We’re in the heart of the city, and we’re the only dispensary downtown with free, off street parking - soft flex.

When we came together to build this business, it was with the intention to create something truly special for our community. Overall, the public perception of cannabis has gone through a tumultuous journey and we’re here to help rewrite that narrative into a positive one. Connecting with our community is pivotal to that, and we’ve been blown away by the amount of support we’ve gotten since opening our doors. Cathedral Village has long been a beacon of creativity and the arts in our city, and we knew from day one that we wanted to celebrate that. That’s why we created Cathedral Kush, a potent indica hybrid one gram bat of a joint. Savory smoking and even burning, we worked with local craft growers from right here in Regina to create this beauty. It only made sense to dedicate our first house brand pre roll to one of the communities who have welcomed us with open arms and who are proud to serve!

Being in such a central part of Regina, there are so many incredible businesses in our neighborhood, including our neighbors right beside us at The Running Room.

Just moved in across the street from us is an ever inspiring business, The Design Collective.

Down the street is fan favourite, Regina’s one and only Cat Cafe, Excalipurr.

Just a wee bit further heading south on Albert is another new bumping business, Blancos Cantina.

If you’ve stopped by the shop, you’ve likely met whole the team, but let’s introduce them anyway!

Raven

Our shop manager, who is also part owner and the main operator, (and the author behind this post) is Raven. Having a pot shop of her own has been a dream since her days toiling in the fields as an organic vegetable farmer. Having spent half her life consuming, she got a start in the industry after legalization working for corporate cannabis chains first as a budtender then up to shop manager. Raven is the powerhouse behind Canna Green, taking care of everything from ordering products to running social media and all the many things in between. As a big believer in harm reduction practices, creating a space for people to explore their cannabis consumption journey with support and education from compassionate budtenders is the driving force behind their dedication to the shop. Strong indicas that mellow the mind and soothe the body are their go to’s, with dabbing, dry herb vaping, and a good old joint being their preferred method of consumptions.

Ben

Our budtender extraordinaire (and a pretty damn good grower, too) is our beloved Ben. With a cannabis knowledge base that could easily go head to head with the biggest names of the industry, Ben is a treasure to have in the shop. He has held a cannabis industry job since the first year of legalization, and his years of first hand experience with growing, processing, consuming and selling cannabis shows through in his recommendations and passion for the plant. With customer service skills as solid as his intelligence, Ben is an incredible asset to the shop and has helped shape Canna Green since day one. With his background in cannabis cultivation, anyone with questions about growing - from getting set up to trouble shooting - can confide in Ben. Truly, if any of our dear readers likes to spend arguably too much time talking about cannabis, he is your kinda guy.

Parker

The final core pillar of our team is Parker, or as we like to call him, our resident hash expert and the most honest budtender you’ll ever meet. Ever had a budtender tell you something was fire, only to go home and find out it was a big bag of disappointment? Parker will always tell it like it is, the good and the bad. If (and when) this industry grows to the point of having weed critics like we have food or movie critics, this guy would be the man for the job. He joined the team in December, but has worked with both Ben and Raven separately in the past and it’s been a seamless fit. His experience in the industry began before Canada’s legalization in 2018, with time under his belt spent trimming in Colorado to Budtending in Regina, Parker has a lot of experience to speak from. For a consumer as picky as him, he has a humbleness that translates through to his recommendations. Always ready to meet you where you’re at, he loves being able to hook people up with the best bang for their buck.

We would be remiss not to mention a very special member of the team, everyones favorite budtender, Tokey Mokey. For those who haven't yet had the honor, Mokey is Raven’s standard poodle and Canna Green’s shop dog! He is as sweet as he is adorable, and loves coming to work with his mum. You can catch him at the shop most Monday and Tuesday mornings, but follow our Instagram to see when else he might pop by! We always post on our story when he blesses the shop with his presence. For the record, we love your pets, too! You are welcome to bring your fur babies inside the shop with you on your visits, we even have some treats behind the counter just for them! Worth noting, Tokey Mokey is just a fun rhyming nickname and Mokey does not at all consume any cannabis whatsoever and we do not recommend any cannabis products for anyone except adult humans! If you have questions about cannabis and animals, most commonly using CBD products for your dogs, please talk to your veterinarian.

Tokey Mokey ready to melt your heart on Valentines Day.

As some of our readers may recall, once upon a time there was a little shop named Canna Green right across the street from where we are located now. This was prior to the legalization of cannabis - it wasn’t open for long and was subject to a number of raids, but the little shop proved to be more than just a place to buy weed. It became a local testament to the resourcefulness and creativity of cannabis culture, and you can’t stop that with raids. Fast forward to the fall of 2023 and Canna Green once again returned to Albert street. This would be a good time to note that beyond the subtle nod to the shop that once shared our name, we are in no way affiliated with the former local legend! Like them, however, we do strive to bring you cannabis infused with the culture, not devoid or detached from it.

Our mission as a pot shop and as a team is simple. We’re here to get people good weed at good prices, give them good information, and have a good time. We’re not trying to reinvent the cannabis wheel, we just trying to understand our customers and help them get what they want out of cannabis. There’s a million different reasons a person consumes and we’re big proponents of mindful consumption. We love to ask you what types of highs you like and why! We will expand on this in future blog posts, but if you’re interested in exploring more mindful consumption but you’re not sure where or how to start, stop by! From exploring your first high to curating your at home cannabis collection, we’re here for you seven days a week, 12 hours a day (10am - 10pm).
